Getting to Oxford

 

Coaches from Heathrow and Gatwick to Oxford run regularly,.  More details can be found at  www.oxfordbus.co.uk.  Coaches from  London are  also very frequent – see www.stagecoach-oxford.co.uk or  www.oxfordbus.co.uk. The coach will drop you at Gloucester Green bus station in the city centre. The conference venues St Cross Building and St Catherines College are next to each other and are approximately 20 minute walk or a 5 – 10 minutes taxi ride (taxis are available at Gloucester Green)

 

Trains run regularly from Paddington Station, more details can be found at www.thetrainline.com. Oxford railway station is about 30 mins walk from St Cross Building

By Car – Parking in Oxford is very limited.  There is a park and ride scheme available and more details can be found at www.oxfordbus.co.uk.   We have a few reserved parking spaces at St Catherine’s college at a cost of £5 per day BUT THESE MUST BE PREBOOKED.

 

 

Accommodation – St Catherines College

 

Your room will be allocated on arrival.  Unless you have arranged otherwise, rooms are single occupancy with either an en-suite bathroom or shared bathroom facilities. Please report to the Porters Lodge at St Catherines College and collect room key.  The porters will give you a site map and room number.  Please note breakfast is included each morning of your stay.

 

 

Arrival day 1st July   - Registration

 

Is from 11 am – 1 pm in St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford. 

There will be light refreshments available.

 

Conference starts at 1pm

There will be tea and coffee breaks during the day as specified in the conference agamda.

 

Conference Buffet Dinner  - Wednesday 2nd July

 

7pm      Cherwell Boat House, Bardwell Road, Oxford.  A buffet dinner will be served on the terrace overlooking the river.

 

The restaurant overlooks the river Cherwell and is a pleasant 20 minutes walk from the St Cross Building/St Catherines college (see blue route marker on map – note that you can walk to the restaurant through the university parks (green) but they will be closed by the time dinner is finished so you have to return by a slightly longer route around the parks). Punts (ie boats propelled by pushing a pole into the river bottom) are available for hire from the boat house until 9pm.
